With high rainfall in the North West, water scarcity is rarely a topic of conversation. However, tap water is treated with chlorine and fluoride, which can affect young seedlings and soil microbes. Rainwater is naturally soft, pH-neutral, and free of chemicals, making it ideal for plants.
At the nursery, we harvest rainwater from our potting shed and polytunnel roofs, directing it into a series of interconnected water butts. This system provides all the irrigation needed for our propagation benches and tunnels. It reduces our environmental footprint and provides our plants with the clean, natural water they love.
