Bringing new plants home from the nursery is an exciting moment, but the transition from pot to soil can be stressful for a plant. This stress, known as planting shock, can stunt growth or lead to plant failure if not managed correctly.
Because all Crann Grá plants are grown in unheated polytunnels or outdoors, they are already acclimated to the weather. However, you should still prepare them. Water the pot thoroughly before planting. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot but the same depth. Gently tease the outer roots of the plant to encourage them to grow outward. Backfill with local soil mixed with a little compost, firm in gently, and water deeply. Mulch around the base to retain moisture, and keep the plant watered during dry spells for the first season.
