Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’ is a highly decorative perennial. It bears upright spires of intense violet-blue flowers on dark purple-black stems, providing strong vertical structure in summer borders. It contrasts beautifully with soft, rounded plants.
Unlike other salvias, ‘Caradonna’ is tough and handles moisture-retentive soils well, provided it has full sun. It attracts bees and butterflies, and if you cut it back after the first flush of flowers, it will produce a second display in late summer. It is hardy and holds its structure well in rain.
